As someone who is dealing with a mess left by my deceased parents, I can definitely offer some advice on what to do and not do, should you be one of those people who is considering dying at some point.

Leave Instructions On What To Do With Your Body After Death

Cremation? Burial? Lying in state? Let your loved ones know your wishes.

My dad only ever said one thing EVER. “Neptune Society,” he whispered to my mom when he was in the hospital eleven months before he died. We were left thinking, burial at sea? Is what what he wanted?

But Neptune Society does more than just chuck your body off a boat, which they don’t actually do but which is what we were envisioning. They do cheap cremations.

We think he was just trying to save the family money but we ended up dealing with a horrid carbuncle of a human named Maureen who was the least compassionate and most overworked person ever. I get it, no one loves their job, but lady you work EXCLUSIVELY with grieving people. Maybe rethink your line of work?

Anyway, the whole thing actually could have been cheaper and less painful if he’d sacked up and had a grown up conversation with us. You can prepay your plan with Neptune Society which I know because I’ve been receiving unwelcome and frankly rude mailings from them for the last many years.
